About the Festival Site    The site of the 2010 Des Moines Arts Festival surrounds the all-new John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park. Dedicated on Sept. 27, 2009, the new 4.4 acre $40 million park is home to 25 pieces of important contemporary sculpture by 19 of the world’s most celebrated artists.

We’re working on plans to celebrate our new partnership including docent led tours of the park and interactive activities related to the sculptures and the artists. You will also notice our marketing campaign this year features photographs of several of the works of art.

The Pappajohn Sculpture Park is located in the thirteen-acre Western Gateway Park, home to Des Moines’ Central Library, University of Iowa Pappajohn Higher Education Center, Arlington-Hallett Apartments, Temple for Performing Arts, and the future home of Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield Headquarters.
