Medium: Photography

Booth #: GN42

Street photography is the medium for artist Rusty Leffel. Leffel explains that on the street he observes and photographs, from an artistic sense, our day-to-day life experiences among the shapes, forms, lines, textures and light of the compositions of our world around us. He explores the street to study how we present ourselves there individually, how we interact with others and how we interact with the built environment around us. He sees streets as a place of equality in our world that everyone uses, shares and experiences.

Leffel is from Mission Hills, Kansas (metropolitan Kansas City). He actively exhibits through national juried competitions, invitational shows and juried art fairs with works having been shown in 25 states and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Kansas City Artists Coalition, the Art Association of Harrisburg, PA and The Salmagundi Club in New York City. He has work in permanent collections of the Masur Museum of Art (Monroe, LA); Museum of Anthropology (CSU – Chico, CA); Sprint Corporation Art Collection (Overland Park, KS), City Art Collection of Prairie Village, Kansas, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, Kansas and Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, Kansas.
