John Sweitzer is a self-taught furniture maker, who focuses on the design and construction of Shaker and Shaker-influenced furniture. In his natural edge wood pieces, John embraces the Shaker philosophy of honesty in the use of materials, functional utility, and the building process as a whole. John received a BFA in painting from the University of Illinois in 1989. He makes his home in Champaign, Illinois where he shares a workshop with his father.
