Aaron Hequembourg studied printmaking at the University of Iowa on an art scholarship,after graduating he moved to Atlanta, Ga., without a press he began to engrave paintings into wood panels. He met his wife and moved into a 200 year old family farm.
In his current body of work,Aaron salvages wood and book pages from sharecropper and slave houses.His models are neighbors, family members and members of his community. Each subject receives a percentage of the proceeds from each piece, in several cases it has changed their lives as well as developing the most meaningful and successful body of work he's ever produced.
