Booth #: LN40CArtist bio: Linda's first experience with clay was with her brothers who found clay along the banks of a nearby creek where she grew up in Michigan building objects on the rocks and letting the water wash them away. After spending 35 years as an educator, completing a masters degree and raising 4 children she put her hands in clay again returning to her love of ‘creating objects’. She now works full time as an artist creating figurative sculptures from clay and has worked with many figurative artists of note including Akio Takamori, Cristina Cordova, Judy Fox, Esther Shimasu, Adrian Arleo and many others. Over the last 10 years Linda has exhibited her sculptures at over 70 nationally recognized juried art festivals, galleries, exhibitions including Dubuque Museum of Art, Iowa State University, Central College, Baker University, Graceland University, SOFA Chicago and Art Palm Beach. She has received several awards including Best of Show, First Place in Sculpture, Best of 3D as well as recognition in national print media. This is her 12th year at the Des Moines Arts Festival. She can also be found at several other art festivals in other states as well as at Mainframe Studios in Des Moines in Studio 435 and 435.
