Artist bio: Master weaver Kathy Litchfield weaves colorful scarves, shawls, ponchos, vests (with pockets!) and hats on 8-harness floor looms. A weaver for almost 18 years, she loves employing novelty yarns alongside rayon chenille, cotton, bamboo, tencel and mohair, in weave structures including plain weave, twills, huck and bronson lace and deflected doubleweave. She earned her master's in weaving certificate at the Hill Institute in Northampton, MA in 2018 and continues her education through workshops and weaving conferences. She sells her work at high-end juried shows throughout the Northeast and beyond.
Artist Statement: Luxuriously colorful, handwoven on 8- and 16-harness floor looms, scarves, shawls, vests, ponchos, wraps and hats in a variety of fibers and weave structures designed by certified master weaver. Fibers include cotton, chenille, tencel, alpaca/silk; structures include doubleweave, plain, lace, twill.
