Michael Magrin

Location(s):
Medium: Paint

Booth #: GS20

Artist bio: Since moving to Colorado from New York in 2001, Iowa State Alumni Michael Magrin has sought to capture the emotions reflected in the western landscape through oil painting.

With an emphasis on the sky, Michael reflects a nostalgia of place and renders a feeling of peace while trying not to sacrifice these greater truths for lesser details. What emerges is a contemporary expression of the landscape.

“The daily renewal of the sky reminds me that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” Michael uses the language of art to communicate the language of faith that describes the deep reality of the fullness of life in the Kingdom of God. These are the stories Michael loves to paint.

Recent exhibitions include The Heavens Declare, Museum of Western Art, Kerrville, Texas, April - July 2022.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Pre-Medical Illustration from Iowa State University as well as a Masters of Secondary Science Education from the University of Rochester, New York. He resides in Aurora, Colorado with his wife and two kids, paints daily, teaches often and is fully persuaded that the Lord will do what he promises.
