Nathalie Maïsa Isabelle Girod, hence the label isa maïsa, was born in Paris, France to a French father and a Bolivian mother filling a rich life of culture, languages, art, travels and cuisines. As a young lady with expensive tastes, she was taught to sew, knit and embroidery by her grandmothers. Her passion for fashion design began to steadily deepen as she progressed with her wardrobe.
Applying and entering in the underground fashion design school Studio Berçot, her professional life took another powerful turn. Surrounded by talented students from every parts of the worId, she began to learn her sense of design under the tutelage of the iconic Marie Ruki. The following next two years were magical and til this day she continues to heed the teachings of Madame Ruki and considers herself very fortunate to have been given this education since it opened the door in 1999 to create her first hand knitted scarf collection. She has been designing under her label ever since.
isa maïsa is a fashion and home accessory brand that thrives in slow and well made collections while protecting this beautiful planet with mindful, ethically responsible business and design practices. A great visual that describes the design style of isa maïsa is to imagine the flare of tomboys who love their stilettos next to home designs for those funky, boho spirited individuals.
Here at isa maïsa there is a love to design through collaboration and creative accidents. The team also scouts regenerative fabrics as well as dead stock and vintage raw materials to create unique, limited collections. It is important to take time to carefully curate a collection while making the least environmental impact.
