Matthew Hemminghaus

I use found objects and natural materials to construct miniature sets in my studio. Once the set is completed and I have the lighting is just how I want it, I place one of my chickens in the set for a photo shoot. The goal is to create a narrative through the objects that are used, and to document the genetic path that my chicken flock has taken over the years. I build my own frames from lumber which I salvage from local buildings that are getting demolished.
