Artist Bio

Bodyscapes by Allan I. Teger are not digital, darkroom, or camera tricks. They are not done with photoshop. They are created by placing small figures and objects directly on the body and making a single exposure. The result is a landscape which upon closer examination, turns out to be a human body!
Bodyscapes were originally designed to illustrate the concept that two realities could exist simultaneously – a concept he was teaching at the time. Teger, who holds a Ph.D. in psychology taught full time at the University of Pennsylvania and Boston University, before leaving academics in 1981 to pursue a full-time career in art. Much of his work is derived from his interest in consciousness and mysticism and from the practice of meditation.
Bodyscapes have been the subject of two books and have ben included in magazines and books in over 30 countries. They have been featured in gallery shows around the country and have received dozens of awards and been the subject of many radio and TV interviews. This year marks the 50th year that the Bodyscapes have been produced and shown!
