Cody's original oil paintings emphasize the tonal qualities of light and color in nature, creating a calming and serene visual impact. Alongside his finished studio paintings Cody includes smaller original oil "studies". These studies are made before-hand in the preparatory process and include color swatches, field notes, lighting indications, etc which all aid in the completion of the larger paintings. Those which Cody feels will translate well are enlarged into full-scale studio work. Cody and his family reside in the Kansas City metro area where he operates Fount Atelier of Fine Art, teaching classical drawing and painting both in-person and online.
