I am a self taught artist who has been working with glass since 1994. In 2005 I quit the IT business and left the corporate world to pursue my dream of being a full time glass artist. IT was a stressful occupation, so I wanted to create calming meditative art that was small enough to carry with you or have nearby for those tough times. I now create pocket galaxy meditation spheres from borosilicate glass and precious metals using the ancient art of flameworking. I then cold-work and flamework select pieces to reveal hidden whirlpools, solar systems, and galaxies. I utilize opals for planets and moons, and multiple layers of precious metal foils, fumes and powders to create nebulas and star nurseries. Multiple celestial scenes are revealed as each piece is rotated in hand. Still photos do not do them justice.
