Artist Bio
The focus of my work is to create interplay and harmony between the disparate elements in life and nature that inspire me: abstract forms, iconic imagery, music, the art of communication and the philosophy of minimalism.
This current body of abstract mixed media painting draws on decades of studio furniture design, professional faux finishing and over a dozen years of creating large scale sculptural wood wall art. This ongoing adventure has allowed me to tap into all the skills, techniques and vision I have acquired and developed to this day into a form of painting that expresses my interest in iconic objects central to our common and shared experiences ( chairs, boats, telephones, etc) as well as familiar geometric shapes, such as circles and lines, and the ideas and emotions associated with connection, communication and love. Studio built cradled birch panels are carved and scratched before, during and after the painting process which consists of multiple layers of mixed media paints and washes applied with trowels and various shop made tools.
