Artist Bio

Woodcuts are the oldest form of printmaking and were a predominant method for book illustration from the sixteenth century until the 1930s. It has been my chosen medium for the past twenty years. To create my work I carve blocks of wood or linoleum, ink the blocks, then pull them through an antique proof press. Choosing handmade or mould-made papers is essential to create the desired result.

The intersection of art, history, and culture remains at the forefront of my work. Researching the people, stories, and lyrics of songwriters and musicians is paramount to developing my ideas using images and text. Whether I’m depicting the musicians of the early delta blues, or the rock & rollers they spawned, I try to capture the essence of ephemera.
