Laura Nelson has been drawing since childhood, finding her earliest subjects in the landscapes of the Midwest, where she grew up. She earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and, later, an MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business.

After a decades-long career in tech and higher education consulting, she returned to her art practice with renewed focus and a deep curiosity about the natural world in Colorado and the American West.
