Artist Bio
With a background as a licensed Landscape Architect, Mark has embraced a wide range of artistic expressions. This eventually led to a collaboration with his wife, Patti, into encaustic painting, where layers of beeswax and damar resin come together to create multi-layered compositions. The couple craft their own encaustic medium using raw pigments, filtered beeswax, and crystallized resin, heating and fusing each layer to build depth and complexity in their work. Through the translucency of wax, viewers can often discover hidden surprises within each piece. The result is a blend of history, nature, and architecture.
Mark and Patti explore encaustic not only as a means of expressing their visions, but also as a platform for sustainability. With each creation, they invite viewers to engage with their art in a way that sparks curiosity about the natural world and the intricate structures humankind contributes to it.
