Artist Bio

Megan Lagueruela is a North Carolina-based fiber artist creating one-of-a-kind art-wear under the label Megan-Ilene. Her practice is a sophisticated synthesis of floor-loom weaving, botanical alchemy, and structural quilting. Using exclusively natural, biodegradable fibers, Megan transforms raw yardage through shibori, hand-painting, and low-water immersion dyeing. A meticulous process designed to protect local water reclamation systems.
Central to her work is a rigorous zero-waste discipline. Megan salvages studio off-fall, intuitively hand-weaving remnants into new materials or sandwiching fragments within sheer silk organza. These compositions are stabilized with dense free-motion quilting, creating an architectural "cobweb" textile that retains a luxurious, soft drape. These engineered fabrics are then pieced into forgiving, inclusive silhouettes.
By merging historical craft with modern material innovation, Megan creates impeccable, live-in art for the discerning collector
