Hi, I’m Shawn Zhan. My journey into street photography began as I moved between China and the United States while pursuing my education. Along the way, I started documenting my life through images. My work focuses on capturing fleeting seconds that often disappear before the eye can fully register them. With Ricoh GR IIIx, I chase motion, geometry, and atmosphere, later refining the images in Lightroom and VSCO to deepen tone, contrast, and emotional resonance.

Looking back at my photos each year feels like stepping into the exact instant I pressed the shutter: the warmth of sunlight on a familiar street, a passing moment that briefly formed lines and shapes, or a scene that vanished almost as soon as it appeared. Some people from those moments remain part of my life, while others exist only in memory. Photography, much like life itself, carries its share of regrets—but I’m grateful for the moments I’ve been able to preserve as a visual diary of who I am today. I look forward to continuing to create and share more stories in the years ahead.
