Born in Virginia, and raised in Atlanta, I have lived in the city most of my life. Even as a child, I knew I would be an artist. When I was 8 years old, I began signing my work “Daphne the Artist” and “Daphne the Great.” I have pursued that dream, completely self-taught, ever since.

My career has included needlepoint and fabric design, hand-built ceramic sculptures, and printmaking, I enjoy exploring different mediums, always returning to my passion, mixed-media paintings. I work in oils, with strong mark making in oil pastels, colored pencils, charcoals, and ink. I construct multiple layers of paint, sometimes incorporating mixed-media details or collage elements, to create my abstract and complex, yet playful, designs. My representative work, while still abstract, features vibrant birds and flowers. My influences come from such artists as Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Kandinsky, and Basquiat. However, my unstructured approach expresses my unique vision and energy.
