I have been seeing with a film camera and practicing the darkroom printing process for a long time. I have an MFA in Photography from the University of Iowa and have enjoyed teaching photography to students ranging from grade school to university levels.

My personal work explores landscapes and their inhabitants. I photograph the surfaces and textures found in grasses, trees and clouds as well as in those resilient farm structures left standing in fields or at the edge of small towns. In both cases, I am searching to make a record of what has endured and the truths that can be found in this. I use black and white photography because of its ability to distill and simplify relationships within the frame.
