Artist Bio

As a licensed Landscape Architect, my passion for art spans across multiple mediums. After years of exploring mixed media, I found my true calling in encaustic painting, transitioning to a full-time artist in this dynamic and ancient medium. Each of my encaustic works is created using multiple layers of beeswax and damar resin. I craft my own encaustic medium by combining raw pigments, filtered beeswax, and crystallized resin. The paint is heated to around 200 degrees, with each layer carefully fused with heat before adding the next. I incorporate painted and hand-drawn imagery between the layers using oil, pastel, and ink. The finished pieces often contain original sketches, incised lines, and various elements embedded within the wax, creating a multi-dimensional effect. The wax’s translucency allows viewers to catch glimpses of these elements through the layers, adding depth and complexity to each piece.
