Artist Bio
I am inspired by nature, as many artists are, but I actually utilize natural materials to create my dimensional compositions. This is the principle of Biophilia. I am always in search of textural materials in nature and how I can combine them to excite the viewers senses. I found cork to be extremely satisfying as my main medium. It is so incredibly textural and is receptive to cutting and staining and painting. I am an environmentalist and it’s of upmost importance that that my materials are sustainable and ethically sourced. My primary medium is cork which is highly sustainable and renewable. I utilize wine bottle stopper production remnants, essentially upcycling the material. My background as a landscape designer has lead me to this point of my career as an artist where my love for nature and my obsession with textures merge. Further, My background in creating mosaics for the home as an interior designer shines through when I combine cork and mosses with glass mosaic. Real preserved mosses, mushrooms, corals and grasscloth are some of the other elements I use in my work.
